TOPIC: DEALING WITH FEAR.
SCRIPTURE: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 TIMOTHY 1:7.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Fear equals faith in the wickedness of the devil and doubt in the faithfulness of God.
It has been confirmed that one of the greatest enemies of a man’s life and destiny is the spirit of fear. Fears like the fear of failure, the fear of the future, the fear of the unknown, the fear of death etc., are deadly enemies of destiny.
Fear is the opposite of faith; where there is fear, faith cannot exist. And if the just shall live by his faith according to Habakkuk 2:4, it means fear is the enemy of life.
Now, let us look at the dangers of fear.
A. Fear is an invitation to disaster. In Job 3:25, Job says that which I greatly fear has come upon me. So, fear is a magnet of evil, just as faith is a magnet of good.
B. Fear frustrates mentality. A frightened person is also a mentally incapacitated person. And you need your mind to realize your future.
C. Fear paralyzes action. It paralyzes initiative. For example, when someone is told that he is HIV positive, he will be gripped by fear. The person will begin to see the end of his life. He will no longer make plans for his future. He will most probably be waiting for when to die.
D. Fear equals faith in the wickedness of the devil and doubt in the faithfulness of God. When a person is afraid, such a person is exercising faith in the wickedness of the devil and doubt in the faithfulness of God. He has faith but, in another direction. That faith says, “The devil is so wicked, I can’t escape his wickedness.”
Beloved, if you want to fulfil your destiny, deal decisively with fear.
And what is the treatment for fear?
1. Curse the spirit of fear because fear is a spirit (2 Timothy 1:7). So, there is a spirit of fear that creeps in on people to paralyze their destiny.
2. Starve your fear and feed your faith with faith-building scriptures and messages. What you listen to determines what you fear or believe (Romans 10:17).
3. Declare the right things consistently. The spirit of faith is communicated by your declarations (2Corinthains 4:13). Declare the Word of God and let the devil know that you believe in the Word of God.
Remember this: Fear equals faith in the wickedness of the devil and doubt in the faithfulness of God.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Feed your faith daily with the Word of God.
2. Avoid negative news, especially news that may inject fear into your heart.
3. Declare the Word of God in the midst of danger and shield your heart against the transmission of fear.
PRAYER: Lord, I reject the spirit of fear. I receive the Spirit of power, love, and a sound mind, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
